4.1 First Use (Curing the Paint)

During the first few fires, the stove's paint will cure, emitting an odor and possibly some smoke. Ensure good ventilation during this period. Start with small fires and gradually increase the heat over several days to allow the paint to cure properly and prevent damage to the finish.

4.2 Loading Fuel

1. Open the primary air control fully.
2. Place crumpled newspaper or firelighters at the bottom of the firebox.
3. Stack small pieces of kindling on top of the newspaper/firelighters.
4. Light the newspaper/firelighters.
5. Once the kindling is burning well, gradually add larger pieces of seasoned wood.
6. Close the door securely once the fire is established.

4.3 Air Control

The Supra Oscar wood stove features primary and secondary air controls to regulate combustion. The primary air control (usually located at the bottom of the door) is used for starting fires and for rapid heat output. The secondary air control (often located above the door or on the sides) introduces preheated air for more complete combustion, reducing emissions and increasing efficiency. Adjust these controls to achieve the desired burn rate and heat output.

When refueling, open the primary air control fully for a few minutes before opening the stove door to prevent smoke spillage. Open the door slowly, add new fuel, and then close the door securely. Adjust air controls as needed.
